Grim scene as bodies are carried out four at a time through the night at bullet-riddled gay nightclub

U.S. citizen Omar Mateen, 29, opened fire inside Pulse night club in Orlando at around 2am on Sunday morning

Shooting happened inside 'most prominent' gay club in city where around 300 people had been partying

Mateen, from Port St Lucie, Florida, killed at least 49 people and injured 53 as crowd of 100 were taken hostage

He was shot dead by authorities three hours after shooting began after he took hostages and continued rampage

Mateen was a 'known quantity' to the FBI and was quizzed three times - in 2013 and 2014

Sunday night, workers were removing bodies four at a time on stretchers out of the club and loaded them into white vans to be taken to the County Medical Examiner's office
